Oak Launches Farm-To-Bar Cocktail Special

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen has the privilege of being steps away, literally across the street, from the beloved Copley Square Farmers Market, now in its 41st season. While Chef Graham Lockwood and his culinary team frequent the market to pull fresh, OAK is extending its market support to the bar this year, launching a farm-to-bar cocktail special on the drink menu that will incorporate a specific ingredient procured from a Copley Market farm vendor.

The Copley Square Farmers Market Special will change every three weeks based on what’s fresh and in-season through the market’s close in November. When a new ingredient is used, the special’s name and recipe will change completely to best highlight the selected ingredient’s profile. First up is a mescal-arita infused with carrots from Siena Farms called “Carrot On.”

“Carrots are a hearty crop that is available almost year-round in New England, but especially makes an impression in the spring,” says Daniel Loperfido, General Manager of OAK. “We were looking to create a cocktail with mescal, and the earthiness of the carrots from Siena Farms blend really well with the mescal’s smoky flavor profile.”

OAK bartenders jumped at the opportunity to test ingredients and build their own seasonal drink specials. The team looks forward to featuring beets, corn, apples, pears and all kinds of berries as the market season continues.

“Copley Square is one of the oldest farmers markets in the state, and we’re so excited when our neighbors like OAK Long Bar + Kitchen actually want to collaborate and celebrate local food,” says Edith Murnane, Executive Director of Mass Farmers Markets. “Their new cocktail special not only values the hard work of our farmers, it shows that using farm fresh, healthy foods can look and taste amazing.”
