Welcome to autumn in Massachusetts, filled with scenic fall foliage and cherished traditions like warm cider donuts, pumpkin patch visits and everyone’s favorite: apple picking. Our esteemed Concierge team is sharing their top apple orchards located within an hour of Boston so you can enjoy this family-fun outdoor New England activity.
Belkin Family Lookout Farm
South Natick, MA
One of the oldest continuously working farms in the U.S. and the shortest drive from Fairmont Copley Plaza. Tip: make a reservation at The Lookout, an all-outdoor dining experience serving food and their very own hard ciders & beers.
Pick apple varieties like Cortland, Macoun, McInstosh, Milton & Spartan. Since 1853 the Dowse family has operated a cider mill, and each year they turn out pure, fresh apple cider available at their farm stand.
A 120-acre fruit farm on the north shore. When you’re done picking, shop at their large farm store for produce, eggs, honey and more. Tastings of their award-winning fruit wines are available on weekends.
Dog-friendly! Bring your pup and enjoy a stroll through the farm’s expansive orchards and say hello to animals like sheep, goats and chickens. Their impressive pumpkin display is perfect for shopping and photos.
You’ll find over 20 varieties of apples on this working farm. Visit their Cider Barn to try a flight or pint of their hard cider (our favorite is the semi-sweet Honeycrisp Cider) while snacking on pizzas & more from the food menu.
On top of amazing apple picking, this orchard is best known for their fresh cider donuts sold at the farm stand. The line for donuts can become long on weekends, we recommend arriving early and purchasing donuts right away!
