Followers of the beloved British drama no longer have to cross the pond to live in luxury like the Crawley family. Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel is partnering with the much-anticipated Downton Abbey: The Exhibition to theme one of its luxury suites in the spirit of the show and post-Edwardian time period. Dressed with antique memorabilia curated from the Greater Boston Vintage Society, the “Downton Abbey: The Exhibition Suite” is available to reserve for the duration of the exhibit’s Boston run, from June 15–September 29, 2019. Among the décor details: framed photographs of exhibit displays, a phonograph from the 1900-1920s, antique candlestick style telephone, Victorian style floor lamp, reproduction 1912 newspaper of the Titanic sinking, vintage silver tea set and alcohol decanters, and more.
Fairmont Copley Plaza is offering more unique experiences inspired by Downton Abbey: The Exhibition: Room packages inclusive of VIP exhibit tickets, a tea-infused cocktail special at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, plus a 10% discount off food. Here’s a link to Downton Abbey news on Fairmont’s website, also shared below.
The connection between Fairmont Copley Plaza and the British saga is strong–the hotel opened in 1912, the same year that season one began. Often referenced as the “Grand Dame of Boston,” the hotel’s magnificent architecture, lobby and ballrooms are the epitome of style and luxury, just like the estate that housed the fictional aristocratic family and their help. Many foreign dignitaries, royalty and celebrities have graced the historic hotel in Copley Square, including His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales.
